NAME

vel2ndx - Read Velocity Field V(x,z)-Create Velocity Index
     Field V(x,z)

SYNOPSIS

vel2ndx [-Nntap] [-Ootap] [-Cvlist] [-nsns] [-nene] [-rsirs]
     [-reire] [-dxdx] [-dzdz] [-V] [-h]

DESCRIPTION

vel2ndx will read a velocity field and create a list of
unique velocities found and use this list to create a velo-
city index field. The input to this program is a USP for-
matted velocity field dataset where the samples are interval
velocities. The outputs are a file containing a list of the
velocities and the corresponding indices and a USP formatted
integer dataset (Format 1) where each sample is an index to
the velocity in the velocity list.

  Command line arguments
     -Nntap
Enter the input velocity field dataset name after typ-
          ing -N.

     -Ootap
Enter the output velocity index field dataset name
          after typing -O.

     -Cvlist
Enter the name of the file to contain the list of velo-
cities and corresponding indices after typing -C.

     -nsns
Enter the starting trace number after typing -ns. The
default is to begin with trace 1 of the input.

     -nene
Enter the ending trace number after typing -ne. The
default is to use all of the input traces.

     -rsrs
Enter the starting record number aftr typing -rs. The
default is to begin with record 1 of the input.

     -rere
Enter the ending record number aftr typing -re. The
default is to use all of the records of the input.
Generally, velocity field datasets have only one
          record.

     -dxdx
Enter the trace spacing (feet or meters) after typing
-dx. This value will be placed in the output line
header (Dx1000). The default is to use the value from
          the input line header (Dx1000)/1000.

     -dzdz
Enter the sample spacing (feet or meters) after typing
-dz. This value will be placed in the output line
header (Dz1000). The default is to use the value from
          the input line header (Dz1000)/1000.

     -V Enter -V for a verbose printout.

-h Enter this option to get online help. The program will
          terminate after printing this.
